We all have a few favorite items to keep with us daily in any purse or bag. Typically when traveling I am sure to bring those same items. However, when your flight is 9 hours long, you need a few extra things to keep you entertained. As Clark and I prepare for our long anticipated Europe trip, more and more time has been devoted to packing. Our trip is 21 days long but we are both limited to only one suit case under 40 pounds, and one carry-on. Therefore, all the more importance is being placed on this carry-on & exactly what I put in it.
I get bored extremely easily. Because of this I want to make sure I have a large variety of things to do. A recommended book should take up some time, but won't hold me for 9 hours. In case I get tired of reading, I will look at pictures. And what better pictures to look at then in wedding magazines! Now that the planning has really started, I can use this chunk of time to look at more wedding inspiration as well as sort some of the planning details. A must in my bag is my planner. It keeps me completely on track with all of the things I have on my 'To-do' list, as well as future events. In general, I like to have a journal to write down any thoughts or ideas that I have through out the day. For this trip specifically, my journal is even more important! Writing any thoughts, blog ideas, or vacation stories while out and about will help me to keep those special memories. Lastly, the iPad. This is a bitter-sweet subject for me because I hate the dependence people now have to technology. When I see young kids with their own phones or iPads it drives me nuts. However, for this 9 hour flight, I have no doubt that I am going to need a little TV, music, movies, blogging time, at some point. Lucky for us, this 9 hour flight is a red-eye, and for a large portion we will be sleeping. To block everything out, I have my adorable 'Sleeps with Dogs' sleeping mask, given to me by my future mother-in-law.
Those are just a few of the items that I believe will help to keep my distracted from the fact that we are thousands of feet up in the air. I only have a small fear of flying. Besides those distractions, I also have my go-to purse fillers - things like a pen bag, pack of gum, cell phone, sunglasses, keys, wallet & passport (not pictured) headphones, & of course a nude matte lipstick and lipgloss. With all of this, I expect that I will be totally set for our long flight, and the beginning of our exciting adventure in Europe.
